August is over and it is hello September! Time really flies whether you are busy doing something or staying idle, it waits for no one.
Some weeks back, I was invited by Medic In Tech to give a talk titled – In Demand Health Tech Roles for Healthcare Professionals, and it was truly an insightful session. I enjoyed the session as the topic is one of the most common questions I get in my DMs and emails.
During the conversation, I explored various roles and opportunities in the health tech space including health informatics specialist, clinical data analyst, telehealth specialist, project manager, digital health strategist, clinical applications specialist, bioinformatics specialist, AI researcher, data privacy officer, software engineer, digital therapeutics specialist, VR developer, data scientist, product manager, UX designer, and healthcare business analyst, product managers, project managers, clinical safety officers, information governance leads, risk managers, change management specialists, benefits analysts, chief clinical information officers, DevOps professionals, artificial intelligence and machine learning experts, digital trainers, digital adoption specialists, cybersecurity experts, quality assurance leads, and software testers.
I talked briefly about the qualifications required for some of these roles and ended with a question-and-answer session.
Some key takeaways for me during the session include:

It is important to continuously update and expand your skills to stay relevant in the health tech industry.
There are startups and tech companies in Africa that are working on health tech solutions, and it is possible to gain experience and work with them.

Africa AI Impact Summit White Paper
Last year, I and some colleagues organised the first Africa AI – Impact Summit which was well attended and featured key persons and stakeholders in the AI space like Dr. Chinasa T. Okolo and Dr. Tobi Olatunji of Intron Health.
After the summit, we did not rest. Some members of the team got together to write a white paper, and we are pleased to say it is now available for download for free.
